stock market can go up. henry blodgett joins us from new york city. good to see you as always. >> thanks for having me. >> and obviously this is a stock that people have tremendous profits in, so to the extend they want to take advantage of lower capital gains, that makes more sense. more fundamentally, they're in sort of a product hold here. they bakley came out with everything in the last few months, we're going to go through this period where they probably won't have anything exciting to announce for a while, now the television has been delayed unit next fall, according to gene muenster. then growth is slowing, and more importantly the margin is likely to compress. that's the big thing that worries me. they're going to go to a lower marge margin of mix products. it's hard to see stocks rise in the face of a compressing market. you have downside protection unless the thing completely falls apart. so i think the valuation is actually help 68 here. >> if apple has a disappointing season, where does the stock go? >> i don't know. i think it would certainly go down. the iphone numbers have

, that discovered inaccuracies with a handful of the city's 83 speed cameras. take this speed camera on cold spring lane, near falls road. it's nabbed 11,000 speeders, but some tickets had to be voided after the camera had recorded the wrong speeds. the city department of transportation says they're working with the company that operates these came ras to -- cameras, to conduct a rigorous investigation into the problem. delegate john cardin proposes each county be required to audit their speed camera system for errors. and he wants to hold speed camera contractors responsible. each inneraccurate ticket, he says, should be held a $1,000 fine. >> i don't care who the contractor is. each contractor that shmake sure what they're doing is a legitimate system of monitoring the speed. >> reporter: derek valcourt, wjz eyewitness news. >> city officials say the speed camera program has an error rate of less than one quarter of 1%. >>> time now for a look at traffic. kristy breslin has traffic control. >> reporter: well, we do have a couple of accidents to start

, good night. breaking news out of san jo. right now the san jose city is on lockdown >>> good evening, i'm elizabeth cook. >> i'm ken bastida. we have breaking news out of san jose. the san jose city college campus is on lockdown after unconfirmed reports of a gunman on campus. these are pictures from chopper 5 over the school now. campus police say the school has been locked down since 4:30 this afternoon. someone had record a person with a gun on -- reported a person with a gun on campus. people were ordered to close and lock doors and stay in. campus police say they are doing a room-by-room search of san jose city college but they have not confirmed that there ever is or was a gunman. they wouldn't confir it. earlier a professor said there are classes in the library with hundreds of people. we are keeping an eye on this. roads are shut down at bascomb and moorpark avenues around san jose city college and that's the situation right now. and we are keeping an eye on it and we'll report if we have any updates for you. >>> the tragedy in newtown, connecticut is spurring a national push

seen in the last few days? in a six-day total almost two feet of rain at mount sast ta. sterling city, 21 inches of rainfall. sims, california, 17.9. this is tremendous rainfall for a nontropical area. it has a tropical connection, because it's coming from the direction of hawaii, but still a mid and northern latitude situation. seattle and portland seeing some rain, snow at the higher elevations. if anything is a saving grace, it's a little cooler this go-around, so some of the moisture getting locked up in higher elevations in the form of snow. most of that is well north of san francisco and napa valley. this will sink further south, we'll get another piece of energy later on today that will spin up across the bay area and intensify the rainfall. that's what we will be watching closely. our computer models highlight that. one pulse to the north. another one fills in further to the south. it shouldn't be nearly what we saw last week. the ground is saturated. rivers are swollen. it won't take much to get more in the way of flooding. once we get past that, we are looking at a fairly dr

fall is blowing all over the place. winds gusting to 50 in omaha, 47 in wichita and kansas city, the winds are picking up for you, too, as you're starting to get bands of snow on backside. who's going to get additional snow out of this? we're mostly talking another 6 to 10 inches possible from the dubuque area, madison and green bay. milwaukee and chicago, a little too warm. on the backside of this late today you'll get a quick burst of snow yourselves. you may pick up an inch or two. when that happens, the temperatures plummet and we'll get freezing around the road. on the south side of the thunderstorm this morning, a tornado warning north of jackson, mississippi. we're watching the deep south, mostly mississippi, alabama for severe thunderstorms and eventually those storms work their way towards atlanta. for the east coast, much of this morning's drive is just fine. tomorrow morning, it will not be a pretty scene, even areas such as philly, d.c. and new york. >>> the fbi is offering a $50,000 reward for these escaped chicago bank robbers. jose banks, that's his name and kenne

to a positive stance on the group ahead of what she says will be catalysts. she's upgrading citi, bank of america, and discover. those stocks did well today. she upgraded the group today and says the banks right now are more than capitalized. the catalysts for the stocks will be march in 2013 when the fed will release the latest results which will -- she expects, approve the bank's plans to return more capital to shareholders and dividend hikes. after which she's expecting bank of america could quadruple its dividend. and will allow some banks to be more execution dependent than market dependent. a bias we always prefer. so she's upgrading these stocks. she's looking for huge returns in some of these. citi and bank of america and discover are the three names she's upgrading today. also taking a positive stance overall on the financial services sector. meredith whitney will be my guest tomorrow. talking about this call where she upgraded the banks today. she is telling clients this right now. my next guest is one of the most well known analysts due to his early warnings on the 2008 fina

and heavy rain through the big cities of the northeast and soon new england. it's a rough morning for the commute. winds just gusted to 43 at jfk airport. you can imagine at the airports especially from new york city, philadelphia and northwards will have the most significant delays and cancellations on this friday. thankfully it's just rain. we're not really dealing with igs ice or snow in new england. it's a different story in the great lakes. it's a winter wonderland anywhere in the state of michigan. it snowed hard last night, northern indiana and much of the state of ohio right now is seeing snow. careful driving, interstate 70 going across the lower portions of the great lakes and the ohio valley. and the winds are gusting, too. we probably have a little bit of blowing and drifting snow in indiana, michigan and ohio. and again, those winds this morning around new york city could get as high as 60 miles per hour. the worst of it coming in the next three hours. so keep that in mind as you're driving on the roads or doing anything outdoors. as far as snowfall goes, over the nex

that the veterans hospital was one of four hospitals in the city that had to close down entirely. and that has meant that emergency rooms and other facilities in the remaining still open hospitals in the city have been overwhelmed with a big increase in patients. the whole thing was and is a mess. well, when we reported on that dire situation at the veterans hospital a few weeks ago, the most dire part of it was the prospect that it would never reopen. they were not even making estimates of when it might open again, if ever, which is a daunting thing for the largest city in the country which has a huge concentration of veterans. but as i said, this is the good news part of it. and there is some good news here. after refusing to initially say if that hospital was ever going to come back, the va has finally announced a reopen date for that hospital. they say they will reopen the outpatient clinic at least at the manhattan v.a. hospital in march. there is no word yet on when the in-patient facility will be open. but you know what? for a place that we didn't know was ever going to reopen ever, this is n

this morning? a small city of grief. a state in mourning. a country with new questions about the price of freedom. good morning, everyone. and welcome to "weekends with alex witt." we're calling it a tragedy, but that particular word nor any other could describe what happened on a cold, bright winter morning in newtown, connecticut. i'm afraid the answers we try to provide in the next hour to the most pressing questions will feel inat adequate to all of us, but we'll try with an admitedly heavy heart. here is what we know. there are new details to report among the 28 people dead are 20 schoolchildren, ages 5 to 10, and the gunman, who also killed his mother, prior to the massacre. this is the nation's second deadliest shooting. 33 people died at virginia tech in 2007. at this hour, investigators are working to learn as much as they can about the gunman. he's been identified as 20-year-old adam lanza. so far, authorities have not spoken publicly about a possible motive. ♪ >> the community is in mourning, at least 2,000 gathered for a vigil last night at a local church, lighting candle
